Have you heard about Project G-Assist yet? Well, it is basically a context-aware artificial intelligence virtual assistant (AIVA), designed to enhance your gaming experience. The basic idea is to have an AI-powered chatbot that can answers your questions and suggest ideas that would improve your gameplay.
Whether or not this technology will really be a game booster is yet to be seen, but the potentials of this technology is certainly far reaching in the real world. It has also been envisioned by NVIDIA that these AI-powered assistants can be integrated into apps too.
Science Fiction Is Becoming Real
This kind of technology was just imaginations of science fictions not too long ago. Thus, it is exciting to see how far we have progressed technologically in just about three decades after we have the World Wide Web. I’d predict that it could be just a year or two for it to be a norm to have a 24/7 AIVA right in our smartphones.
It seems like whether or not we can learn to embrace artificial intelligence will depend on our own actions. Regardless of what the future holds, it looks like it is inevitable that we will come across varied forms of AI in our daily lives. Thus, we might as well prepare ourselves for a new technological era that is subtlety invading into our lives.
To prove my point on how technology can greatly influence our lives, I’d like to show you a movie scene from ‘Star Wars – The Phantom Menace’. In the scene, we can see a then fictitious AI technology at work i.e. talking to a robot. Bear in mind that back in 1999 when the film was released, most of us were pressing buttons on machines and even touchscreens were rare.
Note how Anakin Skywalker is talking to R2-D2 intelligently in the scene. If you would have actually tried to talk to a typical computer in 1999, people will surely label you as crazy. But now, nobody blinks an eye when you command Google or Siri to do something. Remember we also had C3PO in the movie. Likewise, our real humanoid robots today can walk like a human being and respond to us in multiple human languages!
How AI-Powered Virtual Assistant Can Revolutionize Industries
Now imagine a time in the near future where you will always have a knowledgeable AI-Powered Virtual Assistant (AIVA) around. For all you know, some of us might actually find our AIVA invaluable just because it will not question or criticize our orders.
However, there is always a real danger that our AI robots might misinterpret our orders and cause mayhem in the process. But that will be a discussion for another day. (I am guessing most of my readers are probably scifi fans who are thinking of apocalyptic robots scenario).
So I think it is only logical for us to be still wary of artificial intelligence. For instance, are you old enough to remember how Facebook was sort of “forced” upon us? Many of us probably hated it when others pressured us to open a Facebook account. Eventually though, did not most of us gave in to social pressure? Therefore, based on our past behavior, it certainly looks like we will eventually get more accustomed with having AI around.
As you can envision, the AIVA technology could dramatically transform the gaming industry, and the tech can certainly be easily adapted into other industries too. It could also very well play a major role in motivating less tech-savvy people to adopt to using more apps in their daily lives.
So on the next page, let take a look into how AIVAs can give a boost to gaming and user experience in general.
Tech Tip: Rule over AI. Don’t be enslaved by technology.
Do not allow yourself to be enslaved by the AI robots as it is mankind who should be ruling over them. Start your AI project now by using my affiliate link to register your .ai domain with Namecheap and get an offer. I may get a commission if you make an online purchase at Namecheap’s website.
